I ran as quickly as a hog
A poem about lessons and loss. Inspired by W. Wordsworth.
- I ran as quickly as a hog
- That rolls with Tails o'er greens and hills,
- When all at once I hit a spike,
- A host of gold from me did spill;
- Beside the shuttle, around the loop,
- Spining and dancing down the scoop.
- Continuous as the Star Light Zone
- And twinkle like a bonus stage,
- They stretched in outward moving line
- Along the margin of the way:
- Then hundreds saw I at a glance,
- Glinting their circlets in sprightly dance.
- The foes beside them fought, but they
- Outdid the shooting foes in glee:
- A gamer could not help but play,
- In such a risky state of being:
- I ran and rolled, yet always thought
- What wealth my poor playing had cost:
- For oft, when on my couch I lie
- In zoned out or distracted mood,
- They flash upon my gamer's eye
- Which is the price of lazy-tude;
- And then my heart with resolve fills,
- And zooms to finish the green hills.
